CGI (Common Gateway Interface) scripts written in the Perl programming language are useful for providing user interaction to your web site. In this class, we will introduce you to the world of CGI scripts and how they can inhance your web pages. We will discuss in detail how to implement CGI scripts gathered from script libraries on the Internet.

We'll show you how to:

• Add a search engine to your site
• Create a form
• Set up a shopping cart
• Create a "guest book"

This class also covers the scripting language known as JavaScript. We'll teach you the abilities--and limitations--of this exciting language developed by Netscape. The main thing you'll learn in this class is where to find, and how to implement and modify JavaScript code. You'll also learn hands-on how to create custom effects with JavaScript, including:

• Making images or colors change with mouse movement.
• Adding dynamic elements to your page.
• Embedding information such as the time of day, or the user's name into your page.
• Assigning names to and manipulating each item on your page.
• Starting new browser windows. And more!
